What to Do in Tulum in 3 Days: The Perfect Itinerary and Where to Stay
The Ultimate Guide to Your Tulum Trip
If you are wondering what to do in Tulum in 3 days, you have come to the right place to plan an unforgettable getaway. Tulum has established itself as one of the most fascinating destinations in the Mexican Caribbean thanks to a unique combination of white sand beaches, mysterious ancient cenotes, Mayan archaeological ruins on the seashore, and an international-level dining scene.
However, to enjoy this coastal paradise to the fullest, organization is key. Carefully planning a 72-hour itinerary makes all the difference between a smooth experience or losing hours trapped in coastal road traffic and standing in long lines under the sun. Visiting points of interest at the right times and coordinating your transportation will allow you to connect with the true essence of the Riviera Maya without stress.
To achieve a flawless trip, choosing the right accommodation plays a fundamental role. Located at kilometer 7 of the Hotel Zone, Dune Boutique Hotel Tulum is positioned as the ideal strategic base: an adults-only beachfront sanctuary that places you just steps away from the best culinary and artistic offerings, allowing you to explore the best of the area with complete freedom.

Kind staff, really enjoyed the daily breakfast and Abraham our server became familiar with us within the week that we stayed. The rooms were also very nice. The area was extremely quiet during our stay without many visitors which was kind of disappointing but not due to the hotel. We appreciated that the sargassum was maintained daily by staff for their section of the hotel. One thing I did wish was better about the hotel was that there was more activity/ reason to stay at the hotel such as incentive to dine there or like specific designated things for guests. I did appreciate the free parking as we decided to get a car later on in our stay due to high taxi costs. Overall a good, positive experience at this hotel.Publicado en Google fernando noriegaTrustindex verifica que la fuente original de la reseña sea Google. Talk about First Class Service! Practical Tips for Your Tulum Trip
Cash vs. Card Usage
While at Dune Boutique Hotel, galleries, and formal restaurants you can conveniently pay with a credit or debit card, it is essential to carry sufficient cash in Mexican pesos. Entrance fees for cenotes, access to Jaguar Park, and boatmen cooperatives in Sian Ka’an operate exclusively in cash, and paying in US dollars can result in unfavorable exchange rates.
Efficient Mobility
The coastal road often experiences traffic congestion during peak hours. To move swiftly within a radius under 3 kilometers in the Hotel Zone, the most efficient option is to use the hotel’s bicycle service, avoiding delays and enjoying the ride in the open air.
Anti-Sargassum Strategy
If you visit during macroalgae arrival months, diversifying your activities will guarantee a perfect stay. Closed and semi-open cenote systems, as well as the inland freshwater lagoons in Sian Ka’an, remain 100% sargassum-free year-round, ensuring crystal-clear waters for swimming at all times.
